looking back

J.jpgust for the hell of it, I went back and looked at the posts I made on this blog in August four years ago. I notice that I linked to a lot of other bloggers back then; I don’t do that very much these days. I just write. I guess that’s because I seldom have the time to read other bloggers — even the ones I really appreciate reading, like Tom Shugart, who is back after a too-long hiatus from blogdom. My life was so totally different four years ago. Just about everything has changed. And I can’t even remember the last time I linked over to Blog Sisters, where I was once one of the leaders of the pack.

  1. “My life was so totally different four years ago” Amen. I suspect it’s pretty universal.
“How different is your life now from four years ago, when blogging was new?” This would be an interesting thread if anybody crossed-blogged anymore. I don’t get a sense of much of that going on (for example, your reduced linking)
I clicked your link to the old August posts. It was was fun reading. God, what a community we had going then. Makes me wonder if it’s an exercise in futility to try to get back into blogging. But then, there are people such as yourself with whom to re-connect. That ain’t to be sneezed at.

  2. I’m not sure it can ever be the way it was. I’ve tried getting some of the old crowd to cross blog, but everyone — including me, I guess — is just into his/her own thing. It’s really not a community anymore. Too big. Too institutionalized. Maybe a few of us can hang on to the way were were, though.
