WWJD

Jesus Christ!
This via Tom Tomorrow:
From ABC News:
They may be the ones facing danger on the battlefield, but US soldiers in Iraq are being asked to pray for President George W Bush.
Thousands of marines have been given a pamphlet called “A Christian’s Duty,” a mini prayer book which includes a tear-out section to be mailed to the White House pledging the soldier who sends it in has been praying for Bush.
“I have committed to pray for you, your family, your staff and our troops during this time of uncertainty and tumult. May God’s peace be your guide,” says the pledge, according to a journalist embedded with coalition forces.
The pamphlet, produced by a group called In Touch Ministries, offers a daily prayer to be made for the US president, a born-again Christian who likes to invoke his God in speeches.
Sunday’s is “Pray that the President and his advisers will seek God and his wisdom daily and not rely on their own understanding”.

Yes, what, indeed would Jesus do? War? Kill? Lie? Relieve tax burdens for the rich? Cut education and social services? I think not.

  1. May you continue to blog and enjoy the freedoms you have. May you continue to hate the people running this country. May you continue to believe that U.S. troops don’t have the best of intentions.
Blog away. Enjoy your freedom. Eat chips. Watch TV. Surf the net.
And may the people of Iraq suffer indefinitely under the rule of Saddam Hussein.
Oh- ‘but Saddam is bad and I support the troops’ you say. But without Bush’s leadership against all your pessimistic doom and gloom thoughts NO ONE would be doing anything, not a thing, for the people of Iraq. Many of whom are stuck in poverty watching Saddam build palace after palace.
So blog and moan and complain and surf and just live it up. You have all the answers.

  2. Bush’s way of removing Saddam from power is not the only way. War is not the only way.
Why aren’t you over there fighting with the troops that you support?
Are you also taking a stand against the powerbrokers here in America who are building palace after palace and convincing Bush to lower their taxes so that they can build more? What about the people suffering in this country as a result of our class system?
Sorry, but I don’t eat chips and surf the net. I take care of my 87 year old mother, long to visit with my new grandson, and worked for more than 25 years trying to make our educational system more humane.
Now I writeblog with the hope of contributing to making the world a better and safer place for all of the children of the future.
Seems to me that you’re the one surfing the net. You found me, didn’t you?

  3. So I hear Bush has had some new cufflinks ordered.
‘WWJF’ for the left cuff and ‘WWJB’ for the right:
Who Would Jesus Frag…and…Where Would Jesus Bomb.
And before the moaning and vitriol starts, I’d just like to point out that despite outward appearances I’m a good (albeit semi-lapsed) Catholic boy.
But the God I believe in isn’t high on war and warmongers.
