Ooops, I did it again.

With my DSPD, I tend to fall asleep between 3 am and 6 am. Two nights ago, however, I was never able to fall asleep at all. So, I got out of bed at 9 am, took a shower, and sat down at my computer and ordered some Sleepy Time Cheeba Chews from my local medical marijuana dispensary. There are 20 chews for $30. Each piece is a 5.43 mg of a combination of THC and CBN.

I haven’t had any edibles for a while because they are so expensive. At least they are for me. 5 mg is considered one dose. It usually takes me 20 mg to have any effect.

Last night, I didn’t want to take any chances. I had to fall asleep. So I took 30 mg. around 11:30 pm. Got me totally stoned, so that all I could is lie in bed and space out. And I didn’t fall asleep anyway until 3 am.

I’ve done that before, took too much and just had to ride it out. It’s not a bad sensation, but it’s not really what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to fall asleep.

It is now after midnight, so I’ll try taking 3 chewies first, and it that’s not enough, take another one. They take from 1/2 to 1 hour to kick in. In the meanwhile, I’ll get ready for bed and work on a crochet project if my arthritic thumbs can take it. Maybe watch some tv. Or read. When I start getting sleepy, I’ll go to bed.

It’s all trial and error. No one knows how the cannabinols will affect an individual. But hey, I’m a risk taker, right?

  1. 10mg of Melatonin and sitting in my recliner with all the lights off for half an hour before I go to bed, works for me–usually.

  2. Interesting to learn of your experience as were the Time Goes By posts and comments when she and others described their experiences. So far, I’ve not taken any sleeping pills or other substances to cope with my persistent sleep issues but the effects I experience when losing a nights sleep more than once, as has occurred so far the past week or so, are likely different than what you’ve described experiencing and others different from both of us. For now, I’ll keep trying as I’m doing since I think, for me, trying other things would only mix it up more and I don’t know how long it might take to get something out of my system before trying something else.

  3. All of life is trial and error, right? I came here from ALONG THE WAY. I do not say I am ancient, but there are spots of dirt younger than me! Of course, they are the splotches of lava spit our at that volcano in the Canary Islands. But I owe too much money to retire.

  4. Hello Elaine
From one old lady to another: I am alone, without cat or dog or husband and feel rather forgotten. Strangest thing: I have recently been thinking that there maybe bloggers (or just other somewhat lonely bods) around who’d like to be part of a group.
I have to go out in a minute but I thought I’d quickly comment before I change my mind. It was Joared who pointed me in your direction.

I’d love to find out if we have anything in common other than the old-lady-part. When I get back later on I’ll have to read a few of your posts.

    • Years ago, I and another female blogger started “Blogsister”. Maybe we could start one for us older folks — if we could find a few more bloggers to join. What do you think???
